During my studies of art history I became fascinated by the way the world can be framed, composed, and hence manipulated, in pictures. That’s where my fascination for photography began. Whatever catches the eye can be framed in an instant of time; three dimensional realities represented by two dimensional images. Although I know that photos are just images and that it’s all about illusion… Even the sound of the camera shutter is magical to me!
Through photography I learn to look at the world, often by seemingly aimless wandering around, and in turn maybe to understand and translate my inner world. A photo depicts something of the past and illuminates the passage of time: faces, places, disappearances; memories, nostalgia and melancholia.
In the midst of this, I hope to find beauty and poetry where one wouldn’t necessarily expect it.
